RESUMO

The results of the study on the role of some wild mammals and birds as feeding sources of for ticks Hyalomma marginatum, the main vectors of Crimean haemorrhagic fever virus in the Stavropol Territory, in the preimago phases of their development are presented. These phases (larvae and nymphs) were found on rooks, hooded crows, partridges, European brown hares and eared hedgehogs. The examination of domestic fowl resulted in finding larvae and nymphs in small amounts on turkeys. According to the data of the epizootological survey carried out in summer and autumn of 2000 in the Stavropol Territory, rooks and, to a lesser extent, hares were found to be the main feeding sources for ticks in the preimago phases. Rodents seemed to be of minimal importance as feeding sources under the conditions of the Stavropol Territory. Of all animals, rooks must be the main object in the epizootological survey of the territory.

RESUMO

Pancreas was studied histologically, histochemically and electron microscopically in 117 autopsy cases and in the experiment (25 dogs and 60 white rats). Morphogenesis of pancreonecrosis proceeds through certain stages. The initial stages of an acute pancreatic edema is characterized by degenerative and necrotic changes of pancreocytes with parapedesis of pancreatic enzymes into the interstitium and a reactive stromal edema. The following stages are distinguished in the progressing phase of pancreonecrosis: hemorrhagic pancreonecrosis when the proteolytic enzymes provoke a colliquation necrosis of the acinar tissue, fibrinoid necrosis of vascular walls and disturbances of the intravascular hemorheology resulting in the enhancement of destructive processes and hemorrhagic inhibition of tissues; fat pancreonecrosis in which lipolytic enzymes lead to the coagulation necrosis of the acinar and fat tissue while a non-completed proteolysis of necrotic tissues stipulates the intensity of the reactive inflammation.

RESUMO

Applicability of the integrated form of the Michaelis-Menten equation to kinetic analysis of transport ATPases has been shown during continuous pH-metric recording of their activity. Two values of Km for both Na, K-ATPase and Ca-ATPase have been found to be consistent with the reported data. Both values of Km for Na, K-ATPase change with temperature, i. e. at 37 degrees, 26 degrees and 15 degrees C they are as follows: Km1--21, Km2--171; Km1--3.32, Km2--47; and Km1--1,2, Km2--20 microM, respectively. This method of determination of Km and V for transport ATPases compares favourably with the previously used methods in resulting efficiency.
